oops.

Remember when you used to use film? Forget how retro it is now... and remember how each roll was a bit of a gamble. Remember how expensive it was to get it developed? Remember how hard you worked on those double exposures with your first SLR camera, trying to get the perfect guessing-game combo? And then you switched to digital, and with that instant gratification, you forgot how cool it was to play roulette with your images.

Turns out, with a healthy dose of "oops" and a minor panic attack, you, too, can recreate the film mishaps that occasionally made magic. Here's how it works: fill up your memory card (read: fantastic client shoot), download your images and forget to wipe your card (read: oh thank heavens, don't forget to do this), fill up the rest of your card with fantastic adventures, plug your card reader into the computer, get impatient and yank it out while it's thinking hard. Now, plug it back in and stare down the message "Card cannot be read. Would you like to format this card?" NOW, you may have a panic attack. Then download recovery software (in my case, SanDisk Recover Pro), and pull the magic off your card.

Your turn. Rub your card against a magnet. Dribble some water on it. Show me what you get! Pin It
